Part search for 12,200 technicians and users at Deutsche Bahn

At Deutsche Bahn, Partium supports 95 maintenance plants and 12,200 technicians and users — helping deliver 46,800 person-days saved in one year through faster part recognition and search.

At a locomotive's open switch cabinet, a few words typed into Partium Find on a phone find a Siemens contactor among two near misses, with its SAP number, manufacturer, storage location and stock. Beneath, Partium Agent with Semantic Multi-Modal Search

The story

How Deutsche Bahn runs it

  1. DB Mat.ID

From one business unit to one app

Deutsche Bahn began with Partium at DB Fernverkehr in 2019. Five of its business units then chose one app built with Partium, DB Mat.ID: Fernverkehr, Cargo, Regio, Fahrzeuginstandhaltung and the DB Netz machine pool.

  2. At the vehicle

The part, where it is, and how many are in stock

At the vehicle, a technician searches by text or photographs the removed part, and DB Mat.ID shows its SAP number, manufacturer, storage location and stock within seconds.

Semantic Multi-Modal Search finds the part from the words you have, even when the record behind it is messy.

Every way into the search, input by input, is on Partium Find.

  3. DB Cargo

An old fleet, and documents that are missing

DB Cargo's fleet spans decades of locomotives and freight cars, and their documentation is often incomplete or missing. Partium searches across the data DB Cargo has: material lists, descriptions, SAP numbers, drawing numbers, manufacturers, stock and storage locations.

In their words

“The cooperation with Partium can be described as a great success story. Even from today's point of view, I can say with full conviction, anytime again, dear Partium team.”

Peter Pöhlmann, Head of Supply Chain Management, DB Fernverkehr AG

“DB Mat.ID is an excellent cross-business unit solution that supports our mechanics in identifying materials and represents real added value for Deutsche Bahn.”

Lukas Cambeis, group programme Digital Maintenance Vehicles (DIFa), Deutsche Bahn
