Part data types used by Partium

Partium uses different data types such as Part ID and Name, Bill of Materials, Reference Images, Categories, and Attributes

We differentiate between a few data types which might be mandatory, recommended, or not needed at all to enable certain features of the Partium solution. Below is a description of the different data types.

Read Part data needs for the Partium Search Engine to get familiar with the requirements of the different search capabilities.

Part ID and Name

The ID is a unique identifier for the part type which is normally the same one as in an ERP system. The name is needed to present it in a meaningful way to the user.

Bill of Materials (BoM)

The Bill of Materials is providing the structural information of the machines and assemblies to which the part types are assigned. We recommend providing it because it is an easy mechanism to filter down the number of parts and it is often known to the user at the time of searching.

Reference Images

Reference Images are a convenient way to show the part in results list and in part detail pages. This can be key for the user to clearly confirm the part that is being searched. They're also important in the context of our Visual Search capabilities.

Categories and Attributes

The search experience can be greatly improved when the user can filter by categories and attributes of the parts. Examples of attributes would be a manufacturer name or distinct features such as exact measurements. Examples of categories could be related to the function of a part such as hydraulic or electric.
