Yes, mounted, and unmounted parts are supported by Partium.
The short answer is Yes.
Although the engine is able to handle photos of mounted parts successfully, the requirements are more demanding and the performance is limited.
The environment of mounted parts is quite challenging as the engine needs to separate the part in question from the machinery and elements of the background. Additionally, some relevant elements of the part in question might be hidden when mounted (e.g. the thread and length of a screw are not visible when screwed in).
Consequently, the search performance will be better when unmounting the parts. If this is not possible, we recommend the following:
- When capturing the photo try to meet the quality requirements for visual search outlined in this article
- Try to fully capture the part searched and exclude the surroundings as well as possible
- Try to choose an angle where most of the characteristic elements of the parts can be captured
